"Has he done a good job?"

Again for those of you that don't 'do' Facebook - to keep you in the loop.  I posted the same "Law Director" topic on Facebook.  Someone asked "Has he done a good job?"  My response was:

I feel the answer to that question is subjective. Maybe he meets job requirements by answering legal questions for the City and defending Bay’s lawsuits, in addition to oversight of legislation and code preparation.  Maybe his defense of lawsuits saves us money – maybe it doesn’t, how would we know if the Law Department isn’t submitting an annual report to Council as it is supposed to?  Again, if someone knows where I can find those reports through the years, I want to see them.  What are his performance reviews like?  Is he even subjected to performance reviews, and who reviews him? Is that public record?  If there are no reviews, why?  We have 3 part time people in our Law Department.  Another good question is can the Law Department be reconfigured and/or can someone else do the job as well or better for less?  The town does not have the opportunity to make that decision since this is an appointed position.

  1. What many fail to realize is how much money Ebert makes personally from our tax dollars AND in billable hours to his firm. According to Sutherland's expenses we even paid for his AOL account. If the safety forces roll out regionalizing you can bet he will make a pretty penny off that project...and if we loose the Cahoon park because the council and mayor failed I their their fiduciary responsibilities , he and others could benefit significantly off that too. Wake up and pay attention Bay Village residents, your soccer fields could be gone forever quicker then you think. Your home owners insurance could go up if Bay Village does not have a properly staffed fire department and do you want the county sheriff to be your new police department?

  2. Mayors expenses.....

Why did she put an airplane ticket to California on the city credit card? G and G Fitness Service?
Just whom has she been feeding pizza to? meals in Beachwood? Greenhouse tavern, PF Changs, First Watch, Ventos, Green Island, Arrabiatas, Panarea, Cabin Club, Danny Boys Pizza? Those are just the local ones. Not the ones for all of the trips to Columbus, Dallas, Atlanta, California.....

  3. Ebert, as Law Director, has no incentive to resolve any litigation in an expedient manner. If the matter is going to be prolonged litigation, it is sent to his law firm then he makes money twice! There has to be paperwork trail at city hall for his payments above and beyond his salary. This may be done through purchase orders. Check around. He is one of the highest paid public officials in this city when you consider how much he gets back through his firm. Case in point, when there was an attempt to have a write-in candidate for the mayor's position, the objection letter sent to the BOE was on stationary from his law firm, not from the Law Directors office.

    1. Why was there an emergency City Council meeting on August 7th?
What department was responsible for the ballot language to rezoning ward 2? Were the proper procedures followed to place this on the ballot?

  4. Did city council and the Cahoon Memorial Park Trustees have a quorum when they voted to lease Bayway Cabin to Kiddie Kollege?

  5. Why was the Ward 4 Bradley Bay issue not on the ballot while changes to zoning in wards 1 and 2 were?
