Kennel and Animal Control Officer

Hot topic!  – Animal Control Officer & Kennel

The current administration has said that the city doesn't get many animal related calls.  A most recent public records request for the Animal Call Sheets reveals that there were 55 calls made.  There are times when it is over 100 a month. Do you really want the police force to continue handling these situations?   The City needs to lead in finding a solution, making it a priority, instead of tossing hands up and repeating how they tried.  Often times I notice when people say something negative about the current Mayor, her supporters will comment ‘oh just admit it’s personal’.  In all fairness, this is a case when the Mayor needs to admit it’s personal.  She has lost sight of the importance in this issue because of her feelings about the people involved in the kennel.

You can hear the audio of a meeting between the Mayor and Friends of the Kennel and read more on their site:  http://friendsofbayvillagekennel.com/

    1. Mayor Sutherland also FALSELY accused residents of launching a CYBER ATTACK on the city after on line petitions were sent directly to her with requests to keep the ACO and kennel in full operation. These on line petitions are used around the world and for years. There is no documentation of anyone being found guilty of a CYBER ATTACK as a result of it. Does this mean the " Bay bubble" is unique?

Can someone please tell us the definition of CYBER ATTACK?

AM so glad i didn't buy that bay v. house 5 yrs. ago, your city once had a good rep in the dog/cat community thanks to the caring warden. Consider yourself disgraced by this potential home-buyer.

Mayor Sutherland and Council members ~
To answer your question from an earlier email you sent to me about "how many animals I have personally rescued" you can read the attached below. I would again like to express my dissatisfaction and concerns about your decision re the ACO position elimination.
I would hope that the City of Bay Village would care for the welfare of their animals ~ not just outsourcing the animal control services to the County for dogs and to the City of Rocky River for cats where their euthanasia rate is VERY high! Rocky River has euthanized many healthy cats from their own community and this will only increase taking on lost and/or strays from another community. These cats do not have a chance at this facility. The citizens of Bay Village need to know what is actually going on when they bring in a stray animal to the shelter or loose a family pet ~ There are many citizens from Bay Village and surrounding communities who feel you are not for the welfare of the animals. Rocky River does not find foster parents or additional animal resource centers to find homes for these animals if not claimed within three days. Instead, they are just euthanized. Regarding dogs and the County, I don't think they will have a chance as well!
The City of Bay Village may be saving some money outsourcing the animal control services elsewhere but the animals are paying the ultimate price and this is not moral or ethical.
    Regards, Sandra Thomas

Great. We will be happy to drop animals at your house since our plans are not satisfactory. How many can you adopt on a daily basis? Thanks for your community service.

With all due respect when leaders of a city fail to protect all members of their community it then becomes necessary for others to unite and speak up. I am sorry that as a mayor you fail to recognize this. Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry
